All Cress Gallery events are free and open to campus and community.
Cress events range from artist's lectures, presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and gallery talks as well as informal receptions that provide an opportunity for one on one conversation with the artists in association with exhibitions of their work.

November 25, 2015Fall Holiday 2015 Closure: The Cress will Close at 5:00pm Wednesday Nov. 25 for the Holiday Nov. 26 - 29. Normal operating hours resume Monday Nov. 30 with Carmen Papalia's unique exhibition "How to Close Your Eyes" running through Dec. 08! Next up in the New Year: the UTC Department of Art Juried Student Exhibition with Juror Vesna Pavlovic, Vanderbilt University.
October 27, 2015Carmen Papalia (Vancouver, British Columbia) will appear October 26 - 30 as UTC Diane Marek Visiting Artist in conjunction with his exhibition "How to Close Your Eyes". Artist's Lecture Tuesday October 27, 5:30pm in Derthick Hall Room 101, 624 Vine Street (see "Exhibitions" tab for link to a map), followed by an opening reception at the Cress, 752 Vine Street. Exhibition dates: October 27 - December 08!!
September 12, 20152015 AVA Downtown Gallery Hop! The Cress will feature the UTC Department of Art Faculty Exhibition during this year's Gallery Hop!! The Hop's shuttle bus will bring visitors to the Fine Art Center between 2:00pm - 8:00pm and the Cress will open from 1:00pm - 8:00pm with plenty of free parking in nearby UTC lots! Immediately preceding the Opening from 5:00 to 5:30pm a film screening associated with the exhibition will occur in Room 356 Fine Arts Center adjacent to the Cress! Park free in any UTC lot not marked "24 hour Reserved" after 4:30pm

From the gift-based collection of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, a selection of paintings, drawings, and original prints whose creation dates span nearly a century of the history of the University, the Chattanooga community, and the National and International Modern Art Movement. Summer hours: 10:00am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday. Closed on weekends and July 4th.
