All Cress Gallery events are free and open to campus and community.

Cress events range from artist's lectures, presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and gallery talks as well as informal receptions that provide an opportunity for one on one conversation with the artists in association with exhibitions of their work.

UTC Dept of Art Senior BFA Thesis Exhibition SHOW TWO opens Tu April 19!! Talks at 4:30pm in Cadek Hall, a short stroll away on Oak street/ Reception at the Cress 5:30pm. Visitors after 4:00pm may park FREE in UTC lots 10, 11 & 12, and 17 for this event.

Please note: Beginning in April, Monday Gallery hours will change to 9:30am - 4:30pm for the remainder of the Spring exhibition season. Tuesday - Friday will remain at 9:30am - 7:30pm & Sat. & Sun. 1:00pm - 4:00pm. The Cress will be closed for exhibition transition April 16 - 18, 2016.

Artist's Lecture Tuesday February 09, 5:30pm, UTC Derthick Hall, 624 Vine Street followed by a public reception in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine Street.

The Gallery doors have opened on the 2016 UTC Department of Art Juried Student Exhibition. Juror Vesna Pavlovic, Professor of Art, Vanderbilt University, will return to campus Monday, January 25 to present a public lecture about her own work at 5:30pm, Room 356 Fine Arts Center, followed by the Awards presentation and public reception at 6:30pm.The exhibition runs through January 30, 2016. Fall Holiday 2015 Closure: The Cress will Close at 5:00pm Wednesday Nov. 25 for the Holiday Nov. 26 - 29. Normal operating hours resume Monday Nov. 30 with Carmen Papalia's unique exhibition "How to Close Your Eyes" running through Dec. 08! Next up in the New Year: the UTC Department of Art Juried Student Exhibition with Juror Vesna Pavlovic, Vanderbilt University.

Carmen Papalia (Vancouver, British Columbia) will appear October 26 - 30 as UTC Diane Marek Visiting Artist in conjunction with his exhibition "How to Close Your Eyes". 2015 AVA Downtown Gallery Hop! The Cress will feature the UTC Department of Art Faculty Exhibition during this year's Gallery Hop!! The Hop's shuttle bus will bring visitors to the Fine Art Center between 2:00pm - 8:00pm and the Cress will open from 1:00pm - 8:00pm with plenty of free parking in nearby UTC lots!
